Paula Brainard has been a member of Chesapeake Search Dogs since 2009 and achieved the position of Operational Flanker in 2011. In 2012, Paula became an Operational K9 Handler with her K9 partner, Liam. Before going over the Rainbow Bridge in 2020, Liam had achieved certification in Wilderness Air Scent; and Land, Water and Disaster Human Remains Detection. Paula presently serves Chesapeake Search Dogs as the Executive Director. Paula now works with her operational K-9 partner Raylan. A resident of Cecil County, Paula’s involvement in the team is supported by her husband, and their two daughters.

Raylan is a Border Collie who began training with Chesapeake Search Dogs in 2016, at eight weeks old. Raylan achieved the NASAR Wilderness Human Remains Detection Land certification in 2017 and has since been certified in Basic (Land) and Crime Scene Human Remains Detection by IPWDA (International Police Working Dog Association). When not working Raylan loves training for Agility and playing ball in the backyard.
