Paula Brainard has been a member of Chesapeake Search Dogs since 2009 and achieved the position of Operational Flanker in 2011. In 2012, Paula became an Operational K9 Handler with her K9 partner, Liam. She is currently working towards certification in Human Remains Detection with her second K9, Raylan. Paula presently serves Chesapeake Search Dogs as the Director of Operations. Paula’s current certifications include NASAR SARTECH II and NASAR Canine Human Remains Detection Land. Paula is a Canine Human Remains Detection Land Lead evaluator. A resident of Cecil County, Paula’s involvement in the team is supported by her husband, and their two daughters.
Liam is a Border Collie who began training with Chesapeake Search Dogs in 2010, at seven months old. Liam achieved his NASAR Wilderness Air Scent K9 II certification and became an Operational K9 with the team in 2012 and then achieved NASAR Wilderness Human Remains Detection Land certification in 2014. Liam loves working, is crazy for tennis balls, and enjoys agility work.
Raylan is a Border Collie who began training with Chesapeake Search Dogs in 2017, at eight weeks old. Raylan achieved the NASAR Wilderness Human Remains Detection Land certification and is working toward operational status as a Human Remains Detection K9.
